Echinopsis bruchii (still known in cultivation as Lobivia bruchii or Soehrensia bruchii) is one of the larger Echinopsis species, the multi-ribbed bodies grow to as much as 50 cm thick. It has yellow or brownish-orange spines and brilliantly red blossoms.4/5(1).

Lobivia is the closest relative of the Echinopsis cactus. It is no coincidence that in separate reference books many of its types are classified as forms of this kind. The form is classic cactus with spherical or cylindrical stem.

The ribs of most of its species are rounded. Description: Lobivia arachnacantha (Echinopsis ancistrophora subs. arachnacantha) is an example of one of the smaller clustering species that were once in the genus lobivia, this free-flowering plant clusters freely and will form large clumps in time.

The relatively large flowers are easily produced and can be yellow to orange (occasionally white, violet or shades of red). Lobivia pugionacantha var. culpinensis () Rausch: has a globose mostly underground stem. Flowers yellow, pink, orange or red. Distribution: Chuquisaca and Potosi, Bolivia.

Description: Echinopsis tiegeliana (Lobivia tiegeliana) is a small cactus, usually solitary, whose spines looks pectinate (i.e., its spines are arranged like a comb). This species is very variable in colour and number of spines, size and colour of flowers.

It comprises several questionable varieties and its taxonomic history has undergone. Lobivia acchaensis Description: Echinopsis amblayensis (best known has Lobivia haematantha var.

amblayensis) is a local or morphological form of the very variable Echinopsis haematantha characterized by rich orange-red flowers and green stigmas and now fully synonymized with the latter.

It quite is variable and has also received many names. Lobivia famatimensis (a.k.a. Reicheocactus pseudoriecheanus) is very attractive and is used as an ornamental and is sought after by cactus enthusiasts.
